The Council of Ministers has approved a provision to combat fake online reviews, particularly in the restaurant and tourism sectors.
Here are the main changes:
- No more anonymity: To write a review, the customer must prove their identity and actual use of the service.
- More transparent reviews: They must be detailed, relevant and written within 15 days of the experience.
- Right of reply for businesses: They can request the deletion of false, misleading or outdated reviews.
- Buying reviews is prohibited: both for customers and businesses.
- Codes of conduct: Agcom will define rules to ensure the authenticity, transparency and impartiality of online reviews.
Objective of the provision: to protect businesses, in particular SMEs in the tourism sector, from the negative impact of fake reviews, which can affect their business.
