To arrive at the Diocesan Museum is to enter the heart of Brescia.
We are inside the ancient complex of San Giuseppe, built in the 16th century and
formed by a church, a convent and three cloisters.
Since 1978, the larger cloister has housed the museum.
The plant in the center of the cloister is a centuries-old cherry tree. Around it are all the
collections.
Even today, in memory of the Franciscan Monks and their aromatic activity, a section
of the garden is dedicated precisely to the cultivation of aromatic and medicinal herbs.
As a testimony to their past, the well, visible in the north-
east corner of the cloister, has also come down to us, evoking the daily routine of monastic life inside St. Joseph.
